First Impression:

I never had any experience with online dating as much as doing real dating, but based from my own research and experiences knowing someone who does this sort of thing --- digital dating is a cruel mistress when it comes to finding your perfect partner.

Quote:

"Breaking up in the age of social media addiction makes things much more complicated and it seems like the wounds take longer to heal."

Reflection Proper:

Things such as dating is really hard to do, whether doing it face-to-face with someone or finding a partner online. On the subject of digital dating, this is much as I know: the Internet may make finding love online sound easy, but unfortunately, it's not. I mean, really though, it is really worth it? Is it really worth one's time searching through millions and miilions of social media profiles or creating such a perfect fake persona in an online dating site just to find a potential partner where either it could be a heartwarming success or a heartbreaking failure afterwards? Personally though, I would rather just do my work than do that, and also honestly, making relationships may sound simple, but it's really complicated. Plus, online dating can lead to unethical side-effects or rather actions; i.e. for instance, searching for info about your potential partner before you meet -- which sounds like snooping and a bit of stalking; or rather doing something completely bonkers like Facebook-stalking or social-media-network-stalking the person or people that dumped you. Honestly though, one should really follow a certain set of rules for ethical dating online, like the one in the essay article, which includes rules like listening to your conscience, thinking before and after you Google someone, and also most importantly, being kind, sensitive, and above all, compassionate and careful. So needless to say, you should give respect to anyone's boundaries and not resort to extreme and insane means just to make sure that you get a relationship that is strong, and lasts forever, because honestly though, we are not animals when it comes to love; we are smart individuals after all, and heck, love comes and goes, and you will have a strong relationship -- give it time, and don't force it upon yourself.

5 Things Learned From Article:

  1. I learned that online dating could lead someone to do weird and unethical actions.

  2. I learned that people when it comes to online dating could be rather desperate or just really want to get and keep a relationship that is ironclad.

  3. I learned that in today's world of social media plus online dating, wounds take longer to heal especially when it involves breaking up and getting dumped, and thus Facebook-stalking or something similar to that begins.

  4. I learned that finding love is hard to do, online or not.

  5. I learned that one should follow some guidelines to ethical online dating.

5 Integrative Questions:

  1. What would you prefer to do when it comes to dating --- online or offline?

  2. Do you feel that sometimes online dating could be worse than face-to-face dating?

  3. Why do people still stalk via social media their "dumped ones" even if the "dumped ones' blocked them or something?

  4. How would you do online dating correctly?

  5. Do you agree with the essay article's ethical dating guidelines?
