"Learning the ABC's of Digital Ethics"

First Impression:

Everyone, regardless of what age, kid or adult, are going to be exposed to technology in this ever-progressing technology-evolving world of ours, and hence they need to learn the importance of digital ethics and its role in our lives daily..

Quote:

"Trademark and copyright is not something that is often taught in schools, nor is it well-understood by the public at large."

Reflection Proper:

Our society nowadays is part of the digital era; everywhere you look is all tech now, as technology is now a part of our life, and like us, always evolving and changing to newer heights. Therefore, people of all ages are going to be exposed to modern day technology at some point in their lives and therefore need to learn the basics, starting with digital ethics. In my opinion, it's the same concept we should have in our lives all the time --- learning proper ethics and standards. One might be familiar with the concept of parents modeling best behaviors for their children, and thus one must set a example for future generation on how to use things and act correctly and not to become a criminal or some type of delinquent at an early age; also not to mention one must let everyone see the bigger picture of things to further understand; for instance, students are shielded from the full capacity of what the Internet and Web has to offer and therefore not taught automatically what is right, wrong, good and bad about the Internet, and the schools that hold these types of students are just leaving it to the parent to teach such things to their children, but never realizing what would happen if the parents don't know, and therefore how will the children know what to do. Personally, these sort of things should be taken into account, and regardless of what age or what profession one may hold, one must teach another regardless of what is right and wrong. Times may change and we may adapt to those change, but some things stay the same such as learning lessons and proper conduct, so it's best that the people now should have the knowledge of good digital ethics in order to be passed on to the future generation, and thus we should do our best to shape a generation where ethics of all types, digital and physical, are being practiced upon and thus paving the way to a brighter future.

5 Things Learned From Article:

  1. I learned that not everyone has basic knowledge about digital ethics.

  2. I learned about the fact that children's ethical systems are sometimes twisted at some point.

  3. I learned about trademark and copyright infringement.

  4. I learned that plagiarism is still a problem in all types of schools.

  5. I learned that restriction just prevent usage, and not teaching right or wrong.

5 Integrative Questions:

  1. How can one learn about digital ethics?

  2. What could be the factors involving changes in children's ethical systems that would lead them to do something unethical?

  3. How is the challenge of  trademark and copyright infringement being enforced?

  4. What's the modern society doing nowadays to enforce anti-plagiarism?

  5. How do one teach about right and wrong when it comes to restriction?
